The Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic (IPO SR) is a state institution based in Banská Bystrica, which ensures the protection of intellectual property rights in Slovakia. Since its establishment in 1993, it has played a key role in the registration and administration of industrial rights, such as patents, utility models, designs, trademarks, topographies of semiconductor products and designations of origin and geographical indications.
The Office provides comprehensive electronic services, including filing applications, tracking the status of proceedings and access to public registers, which greatly simplifies processes for entrepreneurs, innovators and the professional public. In addition, it is dedicated to educating and supporting SMEs – offering free IP audits, training and advice to help them better protect and develop their intellectual property.
The CVO also cooperates internationally and is actively involved in the fight against counterfeiting and infringement. Its aim is not only to ensure effective legal protection, but also to raise public awareness of the importance and value of intellectual property for the development of innovation and the country’s competitiveness.
